Stockport Children’s Book Awards

Posted by on

I was absolutely delighted to go to Stockport for the presentation of the Stockport Children's Book Awards. These awards are voted for by young people across the borough, which makes them extra special. The ceremony was held in the huge hall in the very grand council building, and I was very happy indeed when Flora Banks won the teen section.

Here I am with John Kelly (picture book winner) and Lisa Thompson (who won the middle grade award). We were each given a piece of artwork made by a child, about our books. Mine went straight up in my living room as soon as I got home.

Lies We Told This Summer

Cat longs to get out into the world and find stories. Instead, she's stuck at home with a lot of younger siblings. When family friends invite her to join them at their apartment in Antibes for the summer, she jumps at the chance. And there she finds a whole new world, and meets the eccentric Henry. But is everything all it seems? Who are these people who are being so kind to her, and what's actually going on behind the glitzy façades? This book is essentially a modern retelling of Northanger Abbey, but with added murders.
